Also called the OO-ALC Car Show. Outsiders would know zero about that, so we’ll just call it the Hill AFB (Air Force Base) Car Show. There were a LOT (like 110) vehicles entered, but I don’t think they all showed up because there were “spaces”.
Nothing too exciting happened at this show. As per Utah’s unspoken rules, it was mainly chevrolet vehicles, most crowds assembled around the chevelles and bone stock corvettes. The interesting or unique vehicles had less of a contingent of fans, but I was happy to see them there personally. A European military vehicle was pretty unique (not my thing, but I enjoyed hearing the stories about it), and there was a Model A with a new motor that was still in the project phase. Loved seeing that because the engine was all brand new but original.
My co-workers wondered by, Colin swung by with his brother (I’ve never met, so that was nice) and we got to chat a little bit about his brother’s newest purchase. He bought a new Audi R3 and has been having a great time zipping it through the gears.
My dad came by for the last hour so we got to hang out and talk shop for a little while before people started to filter out.
I enjoy being part of these shows (on base and off), but I really have no comradery with anyone at the shows so they are slowly becoming more work than they’re worth. My dad doesn’t enter any shows anymore, I have no friends that are into old cars, and the days are hot and uncomfortable. So maybe, moving forward I will abstain from entering shows, and simply spectate when I find interest. Really the best part is taking photographs.
Here are the images I took while wondering around. Was a pretty boring photo day as well. Maybe the sun was too high, sky too blue, or just .. blagh .. I dunno, there were some nice cars though, so I did make sure to take a few photographs of the cars I found interesting. I’m sure you can find a chevy in any picture I didn’t crop well enough because good god, there were so many. I didn’t do any adjustment to these photos except haze removal, and crop to 5×7.
