Thanksgiving 2024!

And just like that, Thanksgiving 2024 is in the books.

We did this one “Family Pot-Luck” style. We had our assignments, and it looked to me like we all hit the puck right to the back of the net.

Jamie fired up the oven and chucked in the turkey (after she soaked it in brine for a day), then she put the oven on “convection” mode and in a few hours we had a deliciously good turkey to go with the rest of the family’s fixin’s. Since it was thanks giving, there were all the things. Squished spuds, gravy, stuffing, turkey, green bean salad, pumpkin pie, and some other things that don’t really matter (like cranberry sauce, yams or something, scalloped potatoes, pie that wasn’t pumpkin, and what not).

The only thing I’d do different would probably bug Dayton sooner (He was a no show), and take pictures BEFORE we were all stuffed and tired. Hopefully I’ll see Dayton before I order our annual Christmas books from the previous year. I don’t think I’ve got a single picture of him with us this year. Maybe he’ll make it tomorrow night for the night parade here in Ogden.

I didn’t really “set up” for pictures, and I felt lazy and used TTL on the flash so the images are kind of all over the place. I also kept the 8-10mm lens on so the pictures are all a bit “fishy”. Not at all ideal for portraits, but fun.

After we were stuffed, some minor shenanigans ensued. Charlotte was texting away (as teenagers do), and Indy got very interested as did Aunt Mendee, and eventually Jamie. Indy obtained her phone eventually and I have a feeling Charlotte will have some explaining to do with her friends when she gets back to Pueblo on Sunday 😉 ..

We wondered around getting a few pictures with all of us. I do not feel any of them turned out as “quality portraits”, but they’re enough to catch the day’s get together. I’m just going to plop them all here together, sort as you will.

After that, Mendee, Charlotte and Indy played some drawing game. It looked like fun, but 3 minutes to draw a picture just ain’t enough! If it were 5 minutes, it might be enough to actually draw something tangible.

This was a really nice Turkey day. We had it in the main lobby at “Home2Suites” here in Ogden. Perfect for our needs, I hope they had some nice rooms (we’ll see them tomorrow).

Tomorrow we’re having some pizza in the rooms and I for one will be watching some Utah Hockey Club on the television (Edmonton Oilers – so it’ll be a blood bath, or we’ll win – usually how it goes – The Oilers are a good crew, hope it’s a good game.. Go Utah!).

  1. Great family Thanksgiving. Nice pictures that gave me a chance to meet some of your family. (sort of) Your daughter Charlotte is beautiful.
