Today I drug two of my kids out with me and we walked into downtown to hunt for vinyl at “Lavender Vinyl“, took a few pictures, and had lunch at the “No Frills Dinner“. Pretty nice stroll all in all.
Charlotte had the Pentax K-3 III, and I was using my Pentax K-01 mirrorless (the only Pentax mirrorless made – the K-01 is circa 2012, the K-3 III is circa 2021). What makes the Pentax K-01 a special mirrorless in today’s world is it natively uses the same lenses as Pentax cameras have used since the early 1970’s. I can use one of my new 2023 lenses, or one of my “vintage glass” 1976 lenses. So good.
I can ask Charlotte if she wants some of her images included with this, but for now, these were taken with the 16 megapixel K-01 (not to be confused with the K-1 II used to have – that is a professional level full frame camera).
When I get to hang out with my kids (Dayton isn’t around as much, but he’s included in these sentiments) we don’t talk deep, we don’t get all up in our feels a lot, but I personally, love my time with my kids. They’re each so individual, special, and important to me in such different ways. I guess that is something it takes being a parent to understand. Three kids, three personalities, three lives, and three paths they’re all taking as they grow and learn life’s lessons.
Before I had any kids of my own the closest I had was a few friends with young ones, and my niece back in the “day”. Sure she was sweet, I loved playing with the little kids, but they weren’t “mine” so no big whup when they went on with their lives, back home, or what ever adventures they choose to follow. When it is your own kids, you feel those gut punch moments on the daily, you feel the tingles inside through their hopes and dreams, and you ache for their hugs, voices, and sounds when they aren’t around. It is just part of being a parent I think.
So anyhow, here are the images I took, not really impressed with any of them but it was a new experience taking images with a camera that did not have a view finder (it has a screen on the back like a phone camera, not impressed with that feel).

Anyhow, I really enjoyed shopping for Vinyl with my kids, and having some lunch. We got 5 records but from the price of vinyl these days you would think we were buying jewelry (no fault of the shop, they’re really great, competitive, and have a nice selection – but vinyl in particular is booming the last few years so the price is just .. ugh!).
Off to the next adventure!
