Since last weekend (Nov 9/10 2025, to today Nov 16, 2025) I’ve been a sick som’beeotch! Today was my first day out of the house since last Monday. I ran (drove) to SLC to pick up the girlfriend from the airport. She spent the weekend with her friend Shelly in Fresno at a Job’s Daughters function. She got to hang out with her friends from years ago.
I drug my newest camera with me (Camera gear acquisition syndrome is a sickness), and I tried to use it enough to get used to it. I have another week before my return won’t be accepted. So far I love the camera, HATE the ergonomics. First here are a few images I took here in the house while being sick.
When I say the ergonomics of this camera suck, it is little things like “back button focus“. On my Pentax (any of them) your thumb is hangin’ out right near the button. On this Nikon, your thumb rests kind of by a Info button, and the back button focus is a long reach away. In other words, you cannot hold the camera in one hand and use back button focus. The other issue I didn’t have until today, and can’t seem to quit having is the front “fn” button. It lands where you hang on to the camera about where your middle or ring finger wants to find purchase. So, another week to see if I want to keep it. These images were in focus because I hit the correct button.
Then people showed up so I started taking pictures of people. I tend to get a LOT of dirty looks from the public when in public places where photography is legal. The lens I was using (Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 s), that I bought used for this camera, is HUGE, so it is NOT subtle. Some are in focus, my girlfriend is not 🙂 .. she was spinning around and it wasn’t a sunny day. Below there is an image of a couple exiting the right side of the image. She was dressed to the 9s, like Zsa Zsa Gabor.
And finally, a few car pictures because CARS are life! My Crown Victoria LX 5-speed. A new Shelby F-150, and a Ferrari 2 Door (GTC4Lusso).
Tomorrow is work, rain or shine. I’ve HATED burning my sick leave up. I know it is for being sick, but UGH! I’ll be down to like 30 hours of sick. Charlotte will be here for X-Mas, that’ll smoke about 40 hrs of regular leave. I love taking leave for the kids, but for being too sick to get out of bed? Yeah, okay .. SIGH!
