Chilly Afterwork Stroll

Went for a little stroll after work on Wednesday. Weather said low 30’s, my hands told me mid 20’s, it was pretty cold. That also made for some nice ice crystals around some of the street lights.

I brought my small Helios 44-M (58mm) with me, but a few images in, I decided it was too cold to fuss with manual focus on a 50-year-old lens with bad optics and a loose aperture ring. I stuck with my favorite 85mm Autofocus lens instead. I really need to get a 105mm autofocus and see how that works out, I feel it might be my sweet spot for street photography when people are around. Good compression and long reach.

It was a very uneventful wander around town. I’ll bring gloves and a better coat next time and snap some more or take my time on a few. I don’t experiment much anymore, I know what settings I like, and I just look for composition. I edit them very little as well. Denoise since it is high ISO, and some haze removal just to bring out all of the colors and detail. Most of these were at 6400 ISO so they’re all full of grain or noise.

With that, I leave you to have a wonderful day, or at least, the day you deserve, and be brave. ~me
