Gib’s Trail – Around a Golf Course

I remember this trail from circa 2021, it wasn’t as weird today, but the first time I hiked it, was around 9am, and there were a plethora of golfers out. It was very odd to be on a trail, hear the ping of a golf ball, look over and 20′ away some chunk’er is thwacking a little white ball.

There’s not a ton to say about this one. I smelled amazing (juniper trees I think?). None of the pictures look anything special, but it was fun to get out and photograph stuff. OH, I did use my Pentax’s Kalimar 135 f/2.8 for a few in the beginning. This trail needed a 40mm, a 28mm would have been better, it was very crowded on the trail (trees leaning into the trail, couldn’t get any distance for the 135 or the 85.

Oh, here, we’ll start with the two park benches because they’re the good stuff. A couple of the signs, in case you’re interested in this little hike (about 2.5 miles out and back). Also how close the golf is, and 29th St turn around (usually where I start most of my hikes).

Here are a bunch of my attempts at photographs, but I feel I needed a wider lens. I left my 28 and my 40mm at home. They’re small, so I’ll probably toss them in next time. These are all pictures of the trail, and they’re out of order, and I’m too lazy correct them tonight.

Oh and DOGS! (and their humans). The black dog was really happy to see me, but did NOT hang around, he was busy. The blue and brown eyed dog was a good boy, but had no interest in me what so ever.

Then there were the pauses to see if I could find interesting compositions, textures, or intricate twisty sticks.

My mind doesn’t go for a ride like it used to when I hiked. It is still a joy to get out there again, but the mental workout isn’t there anymore. I assume that’s because for the most part, things are okay right now. Dayton has me worried constantly, but he’s an adult and has his own idea of what he needs.

The weather has been ideal the last couple days as well. That helps a ton. It is a little chilly to begin, but not far into it, and you’ll be pulling your light jacket off and wishing you had shorts on. Today was low 40s at the start, and high 30s on the way down.

Oh, and I remembered to snap a selfie with my phone.
