I’ve been neglecting my Pentax K-3 III ever since I got my Nikon Zf. I’m thinking about how to leave Pentax behind and go all in with Nikon because tonight, with the Pentax was hard (Funny clip – “This is Hard“). Using the Pentax reminded me that photography isn’t easy like a cell phone.
Anyhow here are pictures taken with my phone of my camera while I was waiting for headlights, that never came. And the fog was thinning out, so the headlights wouldn’t have looked that good, idea dead.

When I got to 25th Street it wasn’t too bad, but as I walked around the block, it got to the point I thought my lens was foggy, so I used my phone and took a picture of the lens (above) and it was fine. Felt like Jack the Ripper was going to whoosh out and .. gulp.
Okay, so with my Nikon, same basic settings as my Pentax, I can take these images hand held. Tonight I tried, then went back and got my tripod. So all of these were taken using a tripod. Makes for cold hands when you’re carrying a heavy tripod around.

So a little camera info for those that read this far, or give a shit. The lens size in mm is assuming you’ve got a 35mm film stip Xmm away from the lens’ focus point. Full frame cameras have a sensor that’s about the size of a 35mm flim frame. The Nikon Zf is full frame, this Pentax K-3 III is an ASP-C sensor, or crop sensor. It’s smaller so when I use the 85mm lens, it makes the camera think it has a bigger lens than it does. Probably about 170mm. So a lot of these pictures were taken across the street pressed against the other buildings.
These are examples of being across the street and I still needed to get further back.

One thing the fog did well until it was too thick was give a great mood to the images. They look misty or out of focus, but if you look close, you’ll see that they are in focus (for the most part).
Anyhow, here are a few more, you can really tell the fog was getting bad because the bridge is basically gone, and the street lights are blown out bright.

I also took another picture of the shopping cart from the other night. Not nearly as creative, but I also couldn’t crouch like the other night, I’m sore today for some reason. Found another one on 25th Street too. What a pair.

On my way back I slowed and took pictures of close up things since the fog was ruining my party.

That’s it kids. Not a great photo night, but a pleasant experience playing with my comfortable Pentax K-3 III. I want the Pentax company (Ricoh) to come out with the K-1 III soooo bad! Until then, I’m a Nikon fan boy I guess.
Oh, and here’s my car at work, test shot. ~me
