4th Annual Youth Impact Car Show

4th Annual Youth Impact Car Show

In a very nice change from yesterday’s very people’ee 25th Street Car Show, this one was much quieter… Until the music came, then it was so loud we could no longer hold a conversation with one another. I’ve supported Youth Impact with their car show since their inception (2022, 23, 24 & 25), but since I tend to admire classic (antique) vehicles more than the newer lawn mower engine powered vehicles made by the likes of Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, VW, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz (yes I own one of those) I may find a different car show next year. If you’re into new cars that were basically driven off the new car lot, wiped down and driven over, then this would be the car show for you.

The folks I have interacted with at this car show have all been really nice, top notch people and I hope they keep going with this show. It has a lot to offer the community, and the people who enjoy these kinds of cars and ultra loud “re-imagined 80’s rap” music will surely enjoy their day with these folks, but my ears are still ringing, my voice is shot, and I am ready for a little more variety in vehicles than this group caters to.

This year’s car show was down from last years because I assume Clearfield took the thunder with its classic (antique) cars and larger crowd.

I arrived pretty early for the show, so they gave me some really great parking. Only once before did I get to park where I could find shade and a reasonable walk to the restrooms. I loved their parking grid this year as well. They started with parking us all one stall apart, and off set from one another for the guys parked in the center of the show. So good (no door dings).

Before anyone got here besides the show organizers, and a few other early birds, a woman came around with breakfast burritos. For nine bucks I had my breakfast and hopefully helped them out with their funeral expenses. I half heatedly believe then, but I would have still thrown then ten bucks for the burrito, it was pretty good.

After Charlotte and Jamie got there we set up the gazebo, chased the shade a little bit, helped our neighbor hold down his gazebo, and walked over to have a look at their food truck situation. I took a couple fun pictures on our way over and while we were there. A nice selfie with Jamie and Charlotte, and an adorable black lab learning to walk in its new shoes (I thank ALL the dog owners that walk their dogs on grass, in the shade, or with booties on).

I was hot most of the day but I still made a loop to snap a few pictures of the cars catching my attention. I took a picture of an actual chevrolet on purpose, took a picture of a little Japanese car for reasons, and I took a few pictures of an AC Cobra that sounded mean, is probably fun fast, but looks like ass.

Then, this sweet thing drove in. 347ci V8, AC, 5 Speed Manual, disc brakes, wonderful smelling interior, great color, nice wheels, and for sale! ($30,000 ain’t too bad). It is almost exactly the wagon I would love to own. They made a 2 door version of this car in 1957, that is the one I would rather have, but this one is nothing to sneeze at (and it sounded “healthy”).

Finally, another quick pic of Charlotte. I bought a book called “Pose!” that I need to practice using, so maybe I can get my kids (Dayton, Indy, and Charlotte) to visit for the sole purpose of posing for me me so I can practice portraiture photography. Dayton did stop by with my dad, Cooper and Epi, but I didn’t snap any pictures. In hind sight that was a serious error because I have zero pictures of Epi, and a minuscule amount of pictures of Cooper (my nephew).

I am happy I did not commit to another show today (it is Sunday for me, but I’m going to back date this post to yesterday because I was absolutely spent after getting home, cleaning up, and processing these images.

With that, I am driving the Comet to work and back all week, then up to Pocatello for a car show on Friday, so here’s hoping she holds together, and I don’t have a heat stroke at a stop light while waiting for traffic.
